New Rules on California Use Tax Requirement Yes, another headache from your friends at the state.
The California State Board of Equalization is about to enter your life, even if you don't sell products or goods!
You will soon be getting a letter from the State (if you gross $100,000 a year or more*) requiring you to register with the State and get a seller's permit, even if you only sell services. You have been ID'd as a "qualified purchaser" subject to use tax. (Sounds complicated, huh?)
This starts with 2009 returns but you will need to go back into 2007 and 2008 and pay as well.
CALIFORNIA IS HUNGRY AND THEY'RE ON YOUR TRAIL! Taxpayers who did not report use tax for 2007 and 2008 must file returns to report and pay that tax. We believe this is the first step in an audit process that will continue indefinitely.
We are going to talk about how you can easily track use tax liabilities(which we will define, and trust us, if you buy ANYTHING on line that qualifies). We will give you tools to support meeting the new law's requirements. Because you will be getting these tools, there is an additional $5.00 materials cost for this meetup.
*If you don't gross $100,000, YOU ARE PROBABLY NEXT. You might want to get a seller's permit anyway, just to be safe.
We have a large group of small business owners coming, but there's still room for YOU!! RSVP NOW at www.meetup.com/numbersatwork
